Our Concept

WHAT MAKES US UNIQUE

Two extraordinary factors give this program a quality and content not available elsewhere:

1) Many people who travel to Argentina to dance encounter only one side of the tango world -- the high-profile, glamorous events of tango's recent rebirth. Although these are of clear appeal and value, there is another fascinating world, much less visible, waiting to be discovered.

This is the disappearing generation of older dancers who are tango's living history. The dance that has seduced the world came of age on the hidden, back streets of Buenos Aires, in local clubs, bars and on the sidewalks themselves. The tango's beautiful and complex moves were the invention of a past age of innovative social dancers, striving to invent personal styles. In this program we explore both the glittering, modern surface of the tango and this rich world beneath.

We draw on our longtime friendships with some of the most visionary tango dancers in the world. These are people whose passion for the tango is demonstrated in many decades on the dance floor. These are the rare spirits who have passed the torch of this dance on to the young dancers we see around the globe. We take you into their lives, their triumphs and heartbreaks, in private, intimate discussions. We spend time with them on the dance floor, in special classes and in our private events. The tango's roots and soul come alive in these unforgettable moments, these encounters with the creative masters of this dance.

2) Our second asset is our staff of skilled, younger Argentine dancers. They gender-balance the classes, while providing a one-to-one learning environment that enhances your experience and raises your learning curve, no matter what your level. They also go social dancing with us at night. Each staff instructor is a bilingual, professional tango dancer, chosen not only for their tango dancing and teaching, but for their personalities and social skills. Some of our staff have been working with us for many years, helping create a relaxed and friendly group dynamic.

They have included: Lorena Ermocida (Tango X 2), Omar Merlo (Tango X 2), Pablo Pugliese, Gabriel Guerberoff, Florencia Taccetti, Luciana Valle, Damian Essel, Marcelo Solís and Valencia Batiuk, among many others.
