tango for high school & college
Daniel Trenner holds an Masters of Eduction in Dance from Lesley College in Cambridge, MA. He has taught at Universities and High Schools all over the world, most recently presenting workshops on Tango at Mt. Holyoke College, Amherst College, and Smith College in the 5 College system of the Pioneer Valley of western Massachusetts. He teaches regularly for the Amherst Tango Club at Amherst College, and the Ballroom Dance Club of Worcester Polytechnical Institute. He also teaches Tango, Salsa, Tap, and improvisation at the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts High School in South Hadley. Here is an example of what introductory classes at your school might look like:
- Class 1 Tango’s language of Improvisation- Basic vocabulary, lead & follow, and adornments. Taught with technique, storytelling, and cultural anecdotes. Daniel is considered the “Johnny Appleseed of Tango”, having introduced the tango to so many people during its North American revival. He brings his vast knowledge of the form, both technical and historical to the classroom.
- Class 2 Technique, architecture, and musicality. Class 2 builds on class one. Class can include visual presentations from Daniel’s extensive archive. (see Tango Lectures)
